A Course in Mindful Living:

A semester-length curriculum of mindfulness, behavior change, self-empowerment, and compassion.

A Course in Mindful Living includes movement, meditation, readings, journaling, and discussion for students grades 8-12. We’ve got everything your school needs to bring powerful tools to your most at-risk students and reinforce the mental health of your entire staff and student body.

It's time to bring meaningful tools to our students!

I have grown to know myself on a different level so that I can love and accept who I am. My favorite part was being able to dig deep and find out how my mind works. Also I loved being able to hear each other and what we’re all going through because I could relate so much.

Melinda

A Course in Mindful Living is a deeply-integrated approach to social-emotional learning, offering students mindfulness skills and concepts based in neuroscience and wisdom traditions.

Your school might need us if:

  • You have students who lack the resources to get qualified therapy on their own.
  • Your current interventions are insufficient and less effective than you hope.
  • You have students who have experienced significant traumas and need trauma-informed tools and information to help them heal and move forward.
  • You have perfectionist students who suffer from stress and pressure.
  • Your faculty could use mindfulness-based tools and a greater sense of connection.

I have honestly had less mental breakdowns and have been able to notice and accept where I am at. I have also been able to see others with more compassion and understanding. Instead of demonizing others, I am able to see them as people.

Chris

Through This Program, Your Students Will Master:

01

The Art of Surrender

So much of finding peace is knowing what to let go of and when. From Week One, we hold your students’ hand through the life-changing mental shift of radical acceptance, giving them concrete tools to help them surrender to the flow of life.

02

The Skill of Self-Awareness

By the end of the Course, your students will have a solid understanding of their own mind, with concrete tools that allow them to work skillfully with thoughts, emotions, traumas, and physical experience.

03

A Personal Connection to Something Greater

Coursework and Daily Practice will guide students again and again to explore and deepen their connection to a greater purpose. Feeling connected to healthy people, greater purpose, and a hopeful future is the foundation of the resilience our kids need.

04

A consistent, long-term lifestyle of movement and meditation that they look forward to!

A Course in Mindful Living invites students into their bodies to create balance, release stress, and find their center. In our view, any approach to mental-emotional health and healing that does not incorporate the body is incomplete.

05

Self-defeating Behaviors that Have Kept them Stuck

A Course in Mindful Living helps students acknowledge, understand, heal, and change the self-defeating behaviors that keep them stuck. We build a deep well of self-compassion through our guided meditations, allowing students to overcome fear and learn to trust their own soul’s inner wisdom.

How Does the Curriculum Work?

The curriculum is built to last an entire semester–around 18 weeks. We suggest incorporating 6 basic elements of Course material to help students get the most out of the experience.

Students Should Expect to invest consistent time to their practice for 18 weeks (whether in or out of class):

2.5-4 hours per week

Above all else…

A Course in Mindful Living will give students the skills, strategy, and resources that will allow them to confidently give themselves and those they love most the gift that keeps on giving — the foundation of awareness and loving compassion that fuels mental, emotional, and physical freedom and greater ability to give and receive love in healthy relationships.

All students should graduate our public schools with a clear understanding of what it means to be human. That’s what we’re all about.

I have learned how to listen to my emotions and observe my thoughts and the messages my body was sending me. I am more than what I look like and what I can do.

Chloe

My life has totally changed from A Course in Mindful Living. Now I practice taking deep breaths when I am feeling anxious, feeling my feet underneath me, and finding a connection to something bigger than myself.  I have learned skills that help me remember that I am not alone.

Expected Outcomes

You Can Expect to See:

Increased Resilience

Mindfulness Training has been shown to increase both resilience & emotional intelligence. Classrooms can become safe spaces and communities of resilience.

You Can Expect to See:

Increased Capacity to Navigate Triggers

Our trauma-informed curriculum gives students the tools they need to ground and find their center through triggers and tailspins.

You Can Expect to See:

Healthy Behavior Change

Our curriculum helps students to identify and understand their self-defeating behaviors from a place of compassion.

You can expect to see:

Increased Self-Love & Acceptance

Our Mindful Living Course is based in compassion practices. 98% of our participants report a significant increase in self-love.

We are offering students the tools & practices that are traditionally offered through therapy.

But not every student can afford therapy, and many therapists have long waitlists. We can offer students many of the same benefits in group settings, along with self-regulation, community, and connection.

You believe the latest research—which overwhelmingly points to mindfulness concepts as the most accessible tools for daily application to improve mental health and overall well-being.

It’s possible to help our students move through life in healthier ways. Our best life is today, and the tools we need are within each one of us.

I want you to know it is truly my privilege to work with students and teachers to help them discover their best life. Every individual has the capacity to live with purpose and integrity as they are given the tools to understand themselves from a place of compassionate accountability.

These tools—a unique marriage of 12-Step principles, mindfulness concepts, and embodied practices—are the very tools that have shaped my life and the lives of countless others.

If your student body is in need of additional resources, I hope you decide to do something truly remarkable—and offer them a progressive curriculum rich in research-backed tools for body, mind, and spirit.

We can do better for our students and teachers. We can offer them more. Let’s be part of a new solution–together.

Namaste,

Becky
